AMPLIFYING WOMEN’S VOICES TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE
We all did short presentations for a start and shared what drives us and what we’re passionate about, then Alison Wilkins held a great presentation on the importance of, and different shapes and forms of Rest, before we went into Rooms to start the conversations on Rest.
What do you get from REST?
Resilience, Energy, Success, Tolerance
– among many other things! 🤗
Thank you all who attended the Connect & Collab session on Rest!
At Brighton Wellbeing Company, our philosophy encourages people to focus on Whole Health by choosing to Eat Well, Move Well, Rest Well, Breathe Well and Sleep Well. Every choice you make has an impact on all your physical and mental health.
Rest can be a triggering word and understanding how we can reframe it to engage for our benefit is important. You may choose instead to reconnect, quieten your mind, release held tension, relax, build resilience or simply take a break.
Proactive Rest – allows us to incorporate wellbeing breaks in our every day to allow a calmness to be experienced in all actions leading to a resilience or being at your best. Reactive Rest focuses on an immediate need to respond to a situation of stress or overwhelm.
It can be as simple as a mindful minute at your desk, getting out in nature, speaking to a colleague or taking a long soak in the bath.
Consider the different types of rest and how we might find space for them in our day:
Active rest, Mindful rest, Self-care, Work rest.
Choose how long that session might be and notice the benefits of your action.
Benefits of Rest
Enjoy the benefits of taking time out to disconnect from stress, clear your mind and reduce inflammation whilst, supporting sleep, building resilience, boosting energy levels, improving decision making and mindset.
Rest is an integral component of our health impacting all aspects of our wellbeing.
How will you choose to implement rest into your every day?

From Mi Elfverson, Founder of EyeStorm Women and The Vlog Academy:
There are two matters that keep coming back me;
1) How affected we are by our work environment and how few women entrepreneurs have a proper workspace.
We saw proof of this during the pandemic, when the male partner immediately barricaded himself in the spare room, and most women had to hang at the kitchen counter and keep serving food.
The lack of a calm, nurturing, environment with a proper office desk and chair setup, can have a negative impact on our focus, clarity and productivity, which in turn will affect both our physical and mental health.
Please prioritise your work environment – it’s crucial for both your mind and your body.
You are worth having both your own time and your own space to work.
2) Many women entrepreneurs don’t take annual leave, they just keep working.
The brain and your body really need a proper break, you can’t just carry on. A proper reset is essential for you to have clarity, focus and enough energy.
How much are you actually going to lose if you take time off, compared to if you’re drained, tired and irritable?
If you’re struggling financially, then make sure you at least have proper downtime for yourself and ensure you focus on the work that brings in the most money in the quickest way for you.
